The Geometric period marked the end of Greece's Dark Age and lasted from 900 to 700 BCE. Monumental kraters and amphoras were made and decorated as grave markers. These monumental vessels are characteristic of Geometric vase painting during this period. Every space is filled with patterns and on one or two registers across the body of the pot are depictions of funerary rites.
